#SOTL Q&A With Alisha Eustace the Cigar Princesse
We recently had the opportunity to interview one of social media's rising Sisters of the Leaf Alisha Eustace, better known as The Cigar Princesse. She was kind enough to share some insight into her life in the cigar world and what's next for her. Alisha is a lovely woman with great taste in cigars and she's definitely one to keep an eye on.
OTL: When did you first start smoking cigars and can you give us some background or insight into your love of the leaf?
AE: As long as I can remember my grandfather smoked cigars. The smell of cigars always brought me back to his house and hanging out with him. It wasn't till I met and married my husband in 2012 that I actually started smoking them. He gave me one to try and after that I was hooked. It's something we enjoy together on our back patio after our kids are tucked away. I've learned a lot about the industry and I look forward to learning much more.
OTL: What are your favorite types of cigars and why?
AE: I like richer flavored cigars that have notes of strong mocha, cream, hazelnut favors and coffee. They pair well with frappuccinos or dark stout beers. I've never liked spicy favors so I tend to stay towards the sweeter side.
OTL: What is currently in your humidor?
AE: Natural Root by Drew Estate, Perdomo Craft Beer Series Stout, Padron Anniversario 1964 Maduro, A. Fuente Anejo shark.
OTL: When enjoying your favorite cigar what do you prefer to pair it with?
AE: Mocha Frappuccinos, cold coffee with a hazelnut creamer. I also like dark stout beer like Youngs Double Chocolate Stout, Dragons Milk by New Holland Brewing and Creme Brûlée by Southern Tier. I've also been known to nibble on a dark chocolate Hershey's bar while smoking.
OTL: What was the biggest chance you ever took within the industry?
AE: Putting myself out there, getting out of my comfort zone by posting pictures. In the beginning some of my family and friends didn't understand and gave me a lot of negative feedback. Now they see that I'm serious about it and I've met so many other brothers and sisters to share this passion with. I've gotten to know a lot of really cool people in the cigar industry.
OTL: What's next for you?
AE: For me, I'm not too sure where this journey is going to lead me. I hope one day after my kids are grown and older that my husband and I can own a successful cigar lounge. I would want a place that's comfortable and inviting for all people. There are so many outlets in this industry and places a cigar lover could land. I hope to make a good name for myself and be around for a long time.
OTL: If you could only smoke one cigar what would it be?
AE: Padron Anniversario 1964 Maduro. I was spoiled with my first one because it had been aged 8 years. My husband had a box in his humidor. It was so smooth and creamy definitely a smoke I will never forget.
OTL: As a cigar lover are there any tips or must have accessories you care to share?
AE: I LOVE my bright pink Xikar cutter and torch. They fit perfect in my purse.
OTL: How can our readers follow you on social media?
AE: I go by Cigar Princesse on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. It's an ongoing joke in our house that I am the princess. Unfortunately, cigar princess was already taken.
