Crux Classic Churchill Marblehead
Wrapper: Habano Jalapa
I was on twitter recently and came across a short video of Melanie with FTB Cigars smoking a Crux cigar and I honestly had not heard of them until that point. After a few exchanges I was sold and the next day I was on my quest to find the Crux.
I found a good supply of Crux Classic at That Cigar Place in Houston and I have to say I was very pleased with my find. The Classic is a dark and oily brown wrapper with a tapered rounded cap and is very pleasing to the eye. There were some slightly visible veins but it was a very tightly packed cigar but not hard and offered no resistence when pulled. It is a very aromatic cigar with hints of cedar and dark cocoa mixed with subtle fruits and spices.
After enjoying the sight and smell of the cigar it was time to light up and once again I was very pleased. It has a very earthy start but not overbearing. Great pull and was full of smoke and flavor. There was a hint of spices and peppers and it was followed by a rich dark cocoa flavor. This is definitely one well blended cigar.
I thougt it was going to be more of a medium bodied stick but going into the second third the flavors and intensity really picked up and it borderlined on the fuller side which was much more to my liking. The second third hit me with more of the bold cocoa and spices while the earth tones seemed a little lighter. There was also a creaminess with a bit of a floral flavoring going into the final third.
The final third was a wonderfully strong surprise. Not truly a full bodied stick but it's right there on the border. The flavor and strength really intensified and I must admit this was one creamy, strong, flavorful treat.
Crux definitely has a new fan with the Classic and I look forward to trying more of their line. In my opinion if you want something medium to full bodied and a great blend of favors, the Crux Classic is a great deal and definitely worth the price.
